Silverton, Colorado Destination Wedding| Carson and Zaidah

Kendall Mountain Lodge wedding

Some wedding days are beautiful because of the scenery. Others are beautiful because of the people. Carson and Zaidah’s destination wedding at the Kendall Mountain Lodge in Silvertson, Colorado, was the perfect combination of both.

Nestled high in the San Juan Mountains, their wedding took place at a breathtaking ski resort venue overlooking some of the most stunning mountain views Colorado has to offer. As a destination wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of photographing weddings in many beautiful locations, but there was something truly special about this day. Perhaps it was the towering peaks surrounding us, the peaceful atmosphere of Silverton, or the fact that I wasn’t just their photographer-I am also Carson’s aunt.

Watching Carson grow from a little boy into the incredible man he is today has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Being trusted to capture one of the most important days of his life was an honor I will never forget.

The day began with a light rain shower that drifted through the mountains just before Carson and Zaidah’s first look. Rather than causing stress, the rain seemed to add a sense of calm and anticipation to the day. As the clouds lingered overhead, they created the most beautiful soft light imaginable. The gentle cloud cover acted as nature’s diffuser, allowing the mountains to glow in the background while creating the perfect setting for portraits.

When Carson turned around and saw Zaidah for the first time, the emotion on his face said everything. Their love for one another was evident in every glance, every smile, and every moment they shared throughout the day.

Their ceremony was deeply meaningful and centered on their shared love for the Lord. The vows they exchanged were some of the most heartfelt and beautiful vows I have ever witnessed. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight as they promised to honor, support, and love one another through every season of life. Their faith was woven throughout the entire celebration, serving as the foundation of their relationship and their future marriage.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was listening to the stories shared during the reception. Family and friends took turns sharing memories, laughter, and heartfelt words about the newlyweds.

One of the most unique and memorable traditions of the day took place after Carson and Zaidah were officially husband and wife. In Silverton, it is a long-standing wedding tradition for the groom to push the bride down Main Street in a decorated wheelbarrow. With the beautiful mountain town serving as the backdrop, Carson proudly pushed Zaidah through the heart of Silverton while friends, family, and visitors cheered them on. It was such a fun and lighthearted moment that perfectly reflected the joy of the day.

Carson and Zaidah’s Silverton, Colorado wedding was more than a beautiful mountain celebration. It was a reflection of faith, family, friendship, and deep love that will undoubtedly carry them through a lifetime together. It was an honor to witness, an honor to photograph, and a day I will cherish forever.
